Becoming an ABC Scholar
Students typically begin the application process in September of their 8th grade year. Students are required to submit an in-depth application with supporting essays and recommendation letters to ABC National. In addition, students need to take and submit scores from a standardized test (either the SSAT or the ISEE.)
ABC National refers qualified applicants to A Better Chance Member Schools like ABC-LM. The Member Schools then review applications, and select students to come visit their program for an interview. ABC Member Schools make the final admissions decision.
For more information about the application process, please look at the ABC National Website .
How to Apply
The College Preparatory Schools Program (CPSP) is an academic program that identifies, recruits, places, and supports students of color, in outstanding college preparatory middle and high schools nationally.
A Better Chance National recognizes that students come from different backgrounds and educational opportunities, so each application is evaluated on their own merit. ABC National only selects Scholars who they believe can thrive at their competitive Member Schools:
Prospective applicants should get started early; late applications are not encouraged as they severely limit opportunities for placements. Further, our application process begins one year prior to enrolling. For example, if a student is currently in the 8th grade, they would be applying for the 9th grade.
